Véronique Rankin,
Chief Executive Officer
Member of the Anishinabe nation from the community of Pikogan, Véronique is a graduate of the École nationale d’administration publique. She has extensive experience working with various Indigenous groups, mainly in the health and education sectors. She sits on the boards of the Société de la Place des Arts, Offices jeunesses internationaux du Québec, Productions Menuentakuan and Kassiwi Media. She is also President of the Collectif pour les arts et les cultures des Peuples autochtones.
Fun fact about Véronique: “If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be paté chinois.”
Jean-Nicolas Barry
Director of Field and Technical Operations
Jean-Nicolas Barry has been with Wapikoni since 2006. His commitment to the field has led him to take on a variety of roles, including filmmaker-mentor, driver-technician, projectionist and technical manager. His wide experience in community television, directing, filming and editing, as well as his career in social organizations, have helped prepare him for his current role, which he has held since 2021.
Fun fact about Jean-Nicolas: “In my opinion, it’s essential to visit the far reaches of Nitassinan once in your life.”
Laurence Richard
Director of Distribution, Mediation and Professional Development Services
After completing her master’s degree in political science at UQAM, Laurence worked on various projects in the field of human rights and international cooperation. She then turned to the cultural sector, where she worked on the development and coordination of cultural mediation activities in the field of documentary film. She joined the Wapikoni team in 2018.
Fun fact about Laurence : My dream vacation is to wake up very early in the morning to go ring birds.
